The #2 Challenge!

Well it's hard to believe but next Monday (Jan. 31st) Maggie and Chad will celebrate their 2nd wedding anniversary! So in honor of all our princesses out there...

We want to challenge each one of you to donate at LEAST 2 gently used purses!

 Here are some questions that we are often asked....

Do you take ANY kind of purse or does it have to be Designer? YES we take any and all purses! The designer bags are how we raise the bulk of our funding but every dollar counts. So send us what ya got!

What do you do with all the bags that are not sold? We donate those bags to local shelters.

Are the bags cleaned? We do the best we can to clean the bags. We ask that when a designer bag is donated that you include a little information about it, like where it was purchased, the approx value, When the bag was purchased, etc. That way we are better prepared and know as much as the bag as possible.

So remember as you start your spring cleaning - DONATE, your MAKING A DIFFERENCE just by donating! If every lady that attended last year's event donated 2 purses... we would have over 1,000 bags!! WOW!!!

The Fairy Godmother Project Announced as the 2011 Charity

Tonight we are honored to present our new charity for 2011..... The Fairy Godmother Project!

The Fairy Godmother Project is a project of NEWMS (New Expectations for Women in Mississippi). It is a special project of CREATE, Inc. Which lends credibility to the project.


It is the brainchild of many philanthropic women in North Mississippi. It was started only about a year ago from the desire of these women to be able to help those who are less fortunate in our area. Some examples of things that they have done are: 
1. An was an elderly couple in our area who both had cancer and were receiving chemo treatments, were sleeping on the floor because they did not have a bed. The Fairy Godmothers provided the couple a bed, linens and pillows.

2. When a daycare for low income parents did not have shelving for the books and learning materials for their children - the Fairy Godmothers provided the funds necessary to build shelves for the daycare.
3. When a young mother graduated from the nursing assistant program, but did not have the money to buy her uniforms to start her new job, The Fairy Godmothers bought her uniforms so that she could start her new job with pride and provide for her children.

There will be more to come later, including the new poster, I just couldn't wait to let eveyone know.

2011 Kick-off Social Jan. 18th

Good Times, Good Friends...

Wow, it's hard to believe we are beginning our 4th year of Mama's Got A Brand New Bag! We are so blessed to have been so successful with our event and it's all thanks to all of you! We have met so many new people and made so many new friends, we can't keep up with all of you. We are also going to try to keep you all updated on our blog, so check back often for new and exciting things to come!  Rhonda and I have done a lot of soul searching in this "off season" and we will be making some MAJOR announcements soon! We are more than excited about the new challenges in 2011.

Drum Roll Please....

What a night! After a LONG hard day Rhonda and I got to finally feel what we call the "warm and fuzzies". Tuesday night our year long journey finally was actually here! The 2nd Annual Mama's Got A Brand New Bag was underway! The roof was a perfect setting, we can not thank Blair and her staff at Park Heights enough for all they did. The food, service, and style was all wonderful! The night was filled with warm survior stories, fun games, great music, lots of laughs, and of course LOTS of purses! With over 350 purses to sort through we had our work cut out for us, but we did it and loved it. We hope that everyone had a wonderful time and would love to hear your comments and suggestions for next year. Also if you would like to help, we are going to need it! So after a year of hard hard work we donated over $7,500 to S.A.F.E., Inc. What a feeling! Rhonda and I are both still tired and sore from all the work, but let me tell you it was WELL worth it. My parents have always taught me that nothing worth having comes easy. But to know that we will make a difference in the life of a family means the world to us both! We can not say thank you enough to all our sponsors, volunteers, table patrons, and to everyone who supported us though donations and ticket purchases, and our Mom's. Rhonda's Mom came all the way from Tulsa to help!!! She is awesome! And my sweet mother helped in more ways than she will know. So thank you, thank you, thank you! Well after a year of planning the day is almost here! Hard to believe that THE DAY is tomorrow!

Over the weekend Rhonda and I sorted through the over 300 purses! These are just a few of them. Things are going to be great tomorrow night! We have lots of great fun things planned. So don't miss it! If you don't have your tickets there will be some at the door, but don't wait too late cause there are only so many people we can let on the roof.
